Class recommendations are based on both age and developmental stage. For early dancers ages 3 to 6, classes are categorized strictly by age group such as Munchkins or Mini Combos. For dancers ages 7 and up, our faculty considers prior experience, technique, and artistic goals to ensure a supportive fit. All new dancers start at Level 1. When you book a free trial, our instructors evaluate your child during class and provide a personalized placement recommendation, including whether a different class or level would be a better fit.
Yes, where the studio has a viewing window! We encourage parents to glance in but give dancers the space they need to learn and grow.
Your child will join a regularly scheduled class, participate alongside current students, and experience our faculty's warm, supportive teaching style firsthand. There is zero pressure to perform perfectly, our trial visits are designed to let your dancer explore movement, make friends, and see if the class style feels like the right fit.
No official uniform or specialty dance shoes are required for a trial visit! Dancers should wear comfortable athletic clothing (such as leggings and a fitted t-shirt) with socks or athletic shoes. If you decide to enroll, our administrative team will guide you through our specific dress code requirements and local footwear partners.
Not at all. We welcome dancers of all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced performers. All new dancers start at Level 1, and our faculty guides every child forward from there, ensuring every dancer feels challenged, encouraged, and celebrated regardless of their starting point.
Encore Performers generally aligns with Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) emergency closure decisions for morning classes, but we make independent determinations for afternoon and evening sessions. Any weather closures are communicated immediately via email, text alert, and studio social media. Cancelled classes due to severe weather can be made up in any age-appropriate discipline within 30 days.
Dancers are eligible to take a make-up class in any equivalent discipline within 30 days of a missed session. You can notify us of your child's absence and schedule your preferred make-up class directly through your Parent Portal or by calling our front desk.
Student safety is our absolute priority. Dancers should arrive 5–10 minutes prior to class time and remain in the lobby until their instructor invites them into the studio. Dancers under age 10 must be picked up inside the building lobby by a designated parent or guardian; students are not permitted to wait in the parking lot unassisted.
In the event of a minor scrape or strain, our team provides immediate care and notifies parents at pick-up. For urgent medical concerns, parents are contacted immediately using the primary phone number on file in your Parent Portal.
Dancers may bring closed water bottles into the studio rooms to stay hydrated during training. Food, snacks, and sugary drinks are strictly kept in the lobby or designated student break areas to protect dance flooring and accommodate dancers with severe allergies.
The moment your child walks in, they will feel it, this is a place to belong, grow, and become who they are meant to be.
