PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Performing onstage is one of the greatest joys of being a dancer. There is nothing quite like the thrill of taking the stage with fellow dancers to entertain a live audience. We believe all students should have the opportunity to perform. In addition to the annual recital, our dancers have the option to join one of our performance companies/teams for more time on stage!

HIP HOP CREW  •  ENCORE ENTERTAINERS • ENCORE SHOWSTOPPERS • ENCORE THEATRICAL ARTS PROJ.

Our mission is to provide quality dance training that empowers our students to be confident and successful. In addition to dance classes, performance experience is essential to developing well-rounded dancers.

Build Confidence.  Learning and rehearsing brand new choreography until it becomes a dance you are proud to share provides a sense of accomplishment. Stepping outside your comfort zone and into the spotlight boosts self-esteem.
Learn Life Lessons. The invaluable lessons learned at dance have real-world applications. Team dancers learn the importance of preparation and time management, commitment, accountability and independence.
Make Lifelong Friends!  The bond between dancers is like no other. On stage, you learn to trust each other and work together when things go wrong. Backstage, you share the excitement of pre-performance nerves and post-performance highs. Off stage, you make memories through team-building activities and social events.

Hip Hop Crew

Our Hip Hop Crew is dedicated exclusively to the hip hop dance style. It is open to all of our students; all levels and ages. An audition is required for placement.

The Hip Hop Crew rehearses throughout the year to attend dance competitions & conventions in the winter/spring. While we are not a “competition studio,” we do believe there are powerful lessons in attending dance competitions; gaining experience on stage, finding inspiration from other dancers, receiving feedback from outside choreographers/teachers, performing under pressure.

The Hip Hop Crew is a great way to get involved at Encore – it is a relatively small commitment and a ton of fun!

Requirements

  • Hip Hop Crew dancers are required to take at least one hip hop dance class in addition to their team rehearsals.
  • Each team will rehearse 1 hour per week; 30 mins for their small group & 30 mins for the full-team production dance.
  • Team dancers are permitted to miss a maximum of 3 rehearsals. They must notify their choreographer at least one week in advance.

Rehearsals

  • Summer Choreography Workshop: There will be 2 summer rehearsals in August to begin learning the production dance. If you are unable to make it to those rehearsals, you can still be on the team – you just will not be in the sections taught at the summer workshop.
  • Weekly Rehearsals:  All team groups will have their own 30-minute rehearsal plus a 30-minute rehearsal with the full team each week during the year.
